The International Wheelset Congress is among the most influential and vibrant worldwide conferences in the railway sector.
The Congress, which is held every three years in different countries across five continents, is owned and managed by UNIFE (Union of European Railway Industries) on behalf of ERWA (European Railway Wheels Association).
The first edition of the Congress was organized in Italy in 1963 and, since then, it has travelled across the world with successful repeat events. Following the last remarkable event held in China, the Congress will be back in Europe for the 2019 edition.
The chosen theme of this event is to look not only to wheels and axles, but to consider also those components that interact with them. The strong optimization requested of the wheelset by the market in terms of efficiency, reliability and reduction in TLCC may be achieved only by considering the wheels, axle and other components as an integrated system to be taken into account as a whole during activities like design, production, testing and maintenance.
The topics of the Congress will reflect such a theme during the different sessions. Manufacturers, assemblers, integrators, users and maintainers of components like brake discs, bearings, housings, sensors, gearboxes and suspension systems are warmly invited, along with Universities and Research Centres, to join in the conference and to share their experience with wheel and axle experts.
The XIX IWC will be hosted by Lucchini RS from June 16 to June 20, 2019 in Venice, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The venue of the conference will be the historical building complex owned by the Fondazione Giorgio Cini on San Giorgio Maggiore Island.
