Ilja Lorenzo Volpi

Ilja is a public affairs professional with more than ten years experience in Brussels. He is currently Head of Public Affairs and Operations at CER, responsible for a variety of advocacy campaigns. For three years, he held the Chairmanship of the Customer Liaison Group (CLG), the platform where railway representatives and passengers’ associations discuss rail customers’ travel experiences and relevant EU policies. Prior to CER, Ilja worked in a Brussels-based consultancy, supporting his clients throughout the EU policy-making and providing strategic advice in policy areas such as transport, environment, international trade and consumer policies. Ilja holds a post-graduate degree in public affairs management from ISMaPP (Paris/Brussels) and a Master’s degree in diplomacy from the University of Turin. He is an Italian national and speaks fluently English and French, in additional to his native Italian and conversational German.
