Giorgio Travaini

Giorgio Travaini is Executive Director of Europe's Rail Joint Undertaking (EU-Rail), a role he has held since March 2023. He previously served as the JU's Head of Programme, led Research and Innovation at Shift2Rail, EU-Rail's predecessor, and worked as a Senior Corporate Advisor at UNIFE, having coordinated preparation of the JU's founding regulation from 2010. Earlier he managed more than 30 EU-funded research projects and served as secretary to ERRAC, Europe's rail research platform. He holds an engineering degree from the Polytechnic of Turin and a master's in public affairs from London South Bank University.
