Nearly 300 exhibitors will present interior innovations for rail vehicles at InnoTrans 2026, spanning seating, maintenance solutions, safety equipment and on-board catering.
Nearly 300 exhibitors will present concepts for the vehicle interior of the future at InnoTrans 2026, spanning around 15,000 square metres of exhibition space across Halls 1.1, 3.1 and 5.1 at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds. Companies from Africa, the Middle East and across Europe will display new products ranging from seating systems and mounting solutions to digitalised on-board restaurants and safety equipment.
According to InnoTrans Director Kerstin Schulz, the vehicle interior has become a critical meeting point between passenger expectations and operator requirements. “The vehicle interior is becoming increasingly important for the rail industry: this is where passengers’ expectations meet operators’ requirements head-on,” she said. “Today, comfort and attractive design must be taken into account just as much as ease of maintenance, cost-effectiveness and sustainability. The Exhibitors at InnoTrans are demonstrating how innovative materials, smart technologies and new concepts bring these requirements together.”
Solutions to ease maintenance and cleaning
A significant proportion of exhibits will focus on improving passenger comfort while making maintenance and operations more efficient. Italian company Clerprem will present a wall-mounted seating concept designed to keep the floor area clear, simplifying cleaning and maintenance work.
Gottlieb Binder GmbH, based in Baden-Württemberg, will showcase resealable fastening systems intended to simplify the replacement of floor coverings and reduce maintenance times. Its TUFF solutions, touch-activated ultra-thin film fasteners, allow carpet to be fixed to the floor quickly and securely without tools.
Spanish company Luznor Desarrollos Electrónicos will introduce a programmable LED signal light for use as both a light source and a safety light during track maintenance and inspection, when vehicles enter and leave stations, and during evacuations following a fault.
On-board catering will also feature prominently, with 18 exhibitors in the Travel Catering & Comfort Services segment, including first-time participants Bucher Group, Kugel Elektro- & Metalltechnik, IVS Rail and DE. CAP. Bucher Group will unveil its “Panarooma” concept, combining automated logistics, AI-supported personalisation and flexible lounge areas to create a new on-board restaurant format.
The themes of comfort and user experience will be examined further through the exhibition’s supporting programme. On 23 September 2026, the International Design Forum will address cross-sector strategies for interior solutions, while the International Rail Catering Group’s Hospitality Forum will explore innovations in railway catering. The Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence Circular Plastics Economy will also present approaches to reusing post-consumer plastics in industrial applications. The forum sessions form part of a wider push to align design, sustainability and passenger comfort across the sector.
