The modernisation project aims to preserve the station’s heritage while improving accessibility, passenger facilities and commercial opportunities.

PKP SA has announced the start of public consultations for the planned modernisation of Lublin Główny station, giving residents and passengers the opportunity to help shape the future of one of Poland’s most historic railway facilities.
The investment will focus on restoring and modernising the station while preserving its historic architectural character. As the building is protected by the Provincial Conservator of Monuments, all works will be carried out in close cooperation with heritage authorities.
Lublin station modernisation moves forward
The project is expected to improve accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility while introducing new plumbing, electrical and telecommunications systems. Plans also include upgrades to passenger areas and measures to increase the station’s commercial potential.
PKP said there are also opportunities to improve the appearance and functionality of the section of the station added during the 1990s.
The consultation process forms a key part of the project’s development. Railway officials are seeking feedback on how residents use the station, which services they would like to see introduced and what improvements could enhance the passenger experience.
Two consultation sessions will take place on 24 June at Urban Lab Lublin. One session will focus on younger users, many of whom use the station for daily journeys to schools and colleges, while a second meeting will be open to all residents and passengers.
PKP said the wider station investment programme aims to improve customer experience across the railway network while delivering projects efficiently and making benefits available to passengers as quickly as possible.
Following the consultation process and completion of design work, further details of the redevelopment programme will be announced.
Once completed, the modernised station is expected to be more energy efficient, safer and better equipped to meet the needs of all passengers, including families, senior citizens and people with limited mobility.
