VinSpeed High-Speed Railway Investment and Development Joint Stock Company, part of Vingroup, and Siemens Mobility have signed a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and Framework Agreement to develop high-speed rail in Vietnam. Siemens Mobility will act as technology partner, responsible for the design, supply, and integration of Velaro Novo high-speed trains and key railway subsystems, including ETCS Level 2 signalling with automatic train operation, telecommunications, and electrification systems. Siemens is also exploring opportunities to provide advanced maintenance services to ensure maximum system availability.

Michael Peter, Chief Executive Officer of Siemens Mobility, said, “We are proud that the global frontrunner VinSpeed has selected Siemens Mobility to deliver Vietnam’s first high-speed rail lines. This confidence in our turnkey expertise and technology underscores Siemens’ position as the partner of choice for ambitious mobility projects worldwide. Velaro Novo, our most advanced high-speed train platform, delivers up to 30 percent lower energy consumption, 10 percent higher passenger capacity, and proven reliability, tailored for Vietnam’s challenging terrain. Together, we are setting new standards for rail travel, driving innovation, and helping position Vietnam as a leader in high-speed mobility.”

Pham Thieu Hoa, Chief Executive Officer of VinSpeed, said, “The strategic cooperation with Siemens Mobility marks an important step in VinSpeed’s roadmap for developing modern transport infrastructure projects in Vietnam. The combination of VinSpeed’s project execution capabilities and deep understanding of the domestic market with Siemens Mobility’s global experience and advanced technology will create a strong foundation for delivering international-standard high-speed rail lines, contributing to socio-economic development and improving quality of life for the Vietnamese people.”

The partnership will focus on two high-speed routes: the Ha Noi to Quang Ninh line covering 121 kilometres with four stations and the Ben Thanh to Can Gio line spanning 54 kilometres with two stations. Both lines will feature modern signalling, electrification, and communication systems to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

Velaro Novo is Siemens Mobility’s most advanced high-speed train platform. Designed for a top speed of 350 kilometres per hour, it offers at least 10 percent higher passenger capacity, about 30 percent lower energy consumption, and enhanced reliability. Engineered for steep gradients and Vietnam’s diverse terrain, the trains also feature automatic train operation for safer, more efficient travel.

Siemens has operated in Vietnam since 1993, supporting the country’s industrialisation and sustainable development. With offices in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City, Siemens provides digital solutions, rail infrastructure, rolling stock, and turnkey rail systems, continuing to drive Vietnam’s innovation, connectivity, and integration into the global economy.
