The communications upgrade supports the launch of the new Buenavista–AIFA suburban railway and future expansion towards Pachuca.

Teltronic has completed the deployment of a TETRA communications system for the new Buenavista–AIFA suburban railway, supporting the launch of passenger services between Mexico City and Felipe Ángeles International Airport.
The Spanish communications specialist expanded the existing TETRA network already operating on the Buenavista–Cuautitlán line by installing additional base stations across the new 28-kilometre section between Lechería and AIFA. The project provides continuous train-to-ground communications along the route.
Teltronic also supplied RTP-800 onboard radios for the 10 trains entering service and delivered portable and fixed radio equipment for operational, supervisory and safety personnel.
Communications network supports airport rail link
The new railway forms part of the wider Felipe Ángeles Mexico City–Pachuca rail project and began operating in April.
The line includes eight stations across the municipalities of Tultitlán, Tultepec, Nextlalpan and Zumpango. It is expected to serve around 80,000 passengers each day by improving access to the airport and reducing journey times between the capital and the surrounding region.
Felipe Sanjuán, Director of Transport Business Development at Teltronic, said: “It is particularly important for us to continue supporting the operation as it expands to AIFA, as this reinforces the customer’s confidence in our technology and in the local team.”
The Mexican Government has assumed responsibility for operating the railway, which is expected to be extended towards Pachuca in the state of Hidalgo as part of the country’s wider rail development programme.
