A new unified leadership structure has been introduced across the Anglia rail network as part of preparations for Great British Railways.

c2c, Greater Anglia and Network Rail Anglia have introduced a new unified leadership structure designed to bring track and train operations closer together across the East of England.
The move represents a significant milestone in preparations for Great British Railways and aims to improve coordination between infrastructure management and passenger rail services.
Integrated Anglia railway leadership aims to improve reliability
The new structure is intended to support faster decision making, improved disruption management and better long term planning across the regional rail network.
According to the organisations involved, the integrated approach will help maintain services more effectively during engineering works and reduce operational fragmentation by aligning infrastructure and train operations more closely.
The rail network in Anglia already ranks among the strongest performing regions in Britain, with both c2c and Greater Anglia achieving punctuality levels above 91 per cent while maintaining low cancellation rates.
The integrated structure will also support freight operations and wider regional connectivity through closer collaboration with freight operators, Transport for London and other rail partners.
Whatch here:
Peter Hendy said: “Great British Railways will bring the management of train and track together, a vital part of ending the fragmentation that passengers have dealt with for far too long.”
He added that the changes would help deliver “less disruption, greater connectivity and improved reliability”.
Jamie Burles said: “By bringing track and train together under one leadership team, we can plan better, respond faster and deliver an even more reliable railway for passengers.”
He added that over time the structure would improve disruption coordination, engineering planning and overall customer experience across the region.
There will be no immediate changes to branding, services or day to day passenger operations while integration work continues ahead of the wider rollout of Great British Railways reforms across the UK rail network.
The Anglia model follows similar integrated operating structures already introduced on South Eastern Railway and South Western Railway.
