The anniversary edition of InnoTrans will host senior representatives from government, rail operators and industry across a major convention programme in Berlin.

InnoTrans 2026 will bring together senior international transport leaders, policymakers and rail executives in Berlin for a high-profile convention programme alongside the world’s leading transport technology exhibition.
The event, taking place from 22 to 25 September 2026, will feature a series of dialogue forums and industry summits focused on digitalisation, sustainable transport, cybersecurity and future mobility technologies.
EU Commissioner and global rail leaders to open InnoTrans 2026
The opening ceremony at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds is expected to include appearances from Apostolos Tzitzikostas, European Commissioner for Sustainable Mobility and Tourism, alongside German Federal Minister of Transport Patrick Schnieder.
Senior rail industry figures including Deutsche Bahn CEO Evelyn Palla, Siemens Mobility CEO Michael Peter, ALSTOM CEO Martin Sion and Skoda CEO Petr Novotny are also expected to participate in the opening discussions focused on global mobility growth and international transport projects.
Kerstin Schulz, Director of InnoTrans, said the exhibition continues to play a central role in promoting collaboration across the transport sector.
She said: “The InnoTrans Convention and the entire supporting program send a strong signal about how important networking and professional exchange are.”
A major feature of the convention will be the Dialogue Forums, which will bring together representatives from politics, academia, transport operators and industry organisations to discuss the future direction of mobility and rail infrastructure.
Sessions organised by the Association of the German Railway Industry, the German Transport Forum, UNIFE and ZVEI will cover topics including digital rail transformation, ERTMS deployment, cybersecurity and railway resilience.
One forum organised by UNIFE will focus specifically on the future of ERTMS and showcase international deployment success stories and future development plans. Another session hosted by ZVEI will examine mobility resilience and the role of digital technologies in future transport systems.
Convention to focus on digital rail and sustainable mobility
The programme will also include the Rail Leaders’ Summit, an invitation only event bringing together rail operators, infrastructure managers and political leaders to discuss future railway strategies and infrastructure resilience.
Elsewhere, the International Design Forum will explore passenger experience, accessibility and sustainable interior concepts for public transport systems, while the International Tunnel Forum will focus on digitalisation and artificial intelligence in tunnel construction and operations.
Public transport and bus sector discussions will examine artificial intelligence, operational efficiency, electrification and autonomous transport systems as operators prepare for increasing urban mobility demand.
InnoTrans remains one of the rail sector’s largest international events and is widely viewed as a key platform for showcasing new technologies, major infrastructure projects and future mobility strategies.
The 2026 edition is expected to place a strong emphasis on digital rail systems, automation, sustainability and cross sector collaboration as the transport industry continues adapting to growing operational and environmental challenges.
