The Railway Technology segment at InnoTrans 2026 will bring together more than 1,200 exhibitors to showcase the latest innovations in electrification, digital rail and sustainable mobility.
InnoTrans 2026 will place rail electrification and digital technologies at the centre of this year’s Railway Technology exhibition, as the sector continues to expand with new exhibitors and innovations aimed at supporting the future of sustainable mobility.
Taking place at Messe Berlin from 22 to 25 September, the exhibition will feature more than 1,200 exhibitors from Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and North America. Around 60 new exhibitors from the electrical engineering sector will join the Railway Technology segment, highlighting the growing importance of electrification, digitalisation and alternative propulsion systems across the global rail industry.
The exhibition will showcase technologies designed to accelerate the transition towards low-emission, digitally connected railway operations. Among the innovations on display will be high-performance battery systems, smart energy supply solutions, thermal management technologies and resilient digital infrastructure that support more efficient railway operations.
Focus on practical rail innovation
Organisers said the industry is increasingly focusing on modular, reliable and low-maintenance technologies that can be deployed across existing railway infrastructure and rolling stock, rather than concepts still in development.
Kerstin Schulz, Director of InnoTrans, said: “The rail industry is undergoing a period of profound technological change. Climate neutrality, Digitalization and the growing importance of sustainable propulsion technologies are driving innovation at a rapid pace.”
She added that InnoTrans provides companies with an opportunity to present new technologies while bringing together the entire rail value chain, from component manufacturers and rolling stock builders to infrastructure managers and transport operators.
The event will feature a range of established manufacturers and suppliers. Harting will present connection technologies supporting electrification and digitalisation, while WAGO will showcase automation systems and signalling technologies for railway applications. Battery manufacturer SAFT will introduce its latest generation of lithium-ion batteries for rolling stock, and GINO AG together with Medcom will exhibit electrification and power supply solutions.
Alongside the exhibition, the InnoTrans Convention will host specialist discussions examining the future of rail technology. One of the headline sessions will be the ZVEI Dialogue Forum on 24 September, where industry experts will discuss resilience, sustainable mobility and the technological challenges facing future transport systems under the theme “Resilience in Motion: Navigating the Challenges of Future Mobility”.
