RSSB has launched a new training course designed to improve understanding of the digital systems increasingly used across modern rolling stock.

The Introduction to Rolling Stock Digital Systems course provides an overview of onboard software, telecommunications networks and cyber security technologies used in train operations, maintenance and upgrades.

RSSB course focuses on digital rail technologies

The face to face two day course is aimed at engineers, IT professionals entering the rail sector and teams involved in train procurement and modernisation projects.

Topics covered include rail vehicle digital architectures, onboard software applications, telecommunications systems and operational technology cyber security.

Delegates will also learn how to assess digital systems in line with industry standards, including RIS-2700-RST, while identifying cyber risks and understanding when specialist support may be required.

Darren Fitzgerald said: “Digital systems are now central to how trains are designed, operated and maintained.”

He added that the course is intended to help rail professionals better understand digital engineering change and risk management.

RSSB said the programme combines practical learning with technical expertise to support safer and more informed decision making as digitalisation continues to transform rolling stock operations.
