Siemens Mobility has selected DHL Supply Chain to deliver critical rail components nationwide through a sustainable, data-driven logistics partnership.

Siemens Mobility has awarded DHL Supply Chain a new multi-year transport contract to support train maintenance, repair and refurbishment across the UK.
Under the agreement, DHL Supply Chain will deliver vital rail components from Siemens Mobility’s Rail Components Distribution Centres in Kettering and Goole to depots, outstations and sub-supplier sites nationwide.
DHL will operate two dedicated fleets for Siemens Mobility, with sustainability at the heart of the operation. Seventy percent of the fleet already runs on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), with the remainder set to transition by the end of the year. The use of HVO reduces carbon emissions by around 80%, supporting both organisations’ carbon reduction commitments.
The contract also brings enhanced digital visibility across the supply chain. By leveraging DHL’s integrated data solutions, including its MySupplyChain platform, Siemens Mobility will gain improved insight into parts flows, enabling smarter inventory management and greater operational resilience. DHL will manage transport planning and execution through its Connected Control Tower in Tamworth, providing real-time visibility of goods in transit and optimised route planning.
To support time-critical rail operations, DHL will provide same-day delivery services for urgent repairs, helping to minimise disruption and keep passenger services running reliably.
Wayne Jay, VP Operations at DHL Supply Chain UK & Ireland, said: “We are proud to work with Siemens Mobility on this new contract, combining our scale, flexibility, and sustainability credentials to deliver a transport solution that is both resilient and future-focused. With our Connected Control Tower and HVO-powered fleet, we are ensuring Siemens has the speed, visibility, and reliability needed to support essential rail operations across the UK.”
Sambit Banerjee, Joint CEO of Siemens Mobility UK&I, added: “We’re delighted to partner with DHL to further enhance the delivery of materials from our Siemens Mobility distribution centres to our train fleets, helping keep passengers moving. This collaboration supports our mission to transform rail travel and forms an important part of our efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of our logistics operations.”
