RailPros, a rail engineering and management company, has awarded a programme management services contract to CH2M to assist with the development of the Redlands Passenger Rail Project in California.
Webinar: BONAXLE® – induction hardened axle providing higher safety & lower LCC
Speaker Petr Kucharczyk discusses the technology behind BONAXLE®, the steel grades and the validation tests that are performed, and most importantly, about the benefits you will see by applying BONAXLE® to your wheelsets, bogies and rolling stock.
Within the contract framework, US based engineering company CH2M will assist with the development and implementation of the Redlands Passenger Rail Project (RPRP) for the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG) in California.
Redlands Passenger Rail Project will connect with other transport modes
The Redlands Passenger Rail Project is designed to connect residents, businesses and visitors to a variety of leisure, education, healthcare destinations and provide additional transport choices through the implementation of a new passenger rail service. A nine-mile 9-mile rail extension will provide intermodal connections with car, bus and bicycle and connect with Los Angeles Basin’s existing Metrolink commuter rail lines.
RailPros and CH2M will provide planning, coordination and risk assessment, and management services for the RPRP. CH2M also will assist with the rail passenger vehicle acquisition and conduct a fare collection system study. Because safety is a critical component of rail systems, especially with the startup of a new passenger service, CH2M will work closely with RailPros, SANBAG, the Federal Railroad Administration and other regulators and rail operators to develop system processes that ensure public safety.
Commenting on the award win, Tom Donahue, CH2M’s Transit & Rail Director said: “As the top ranked program management firm, and as a leader in transit and rail planning, design, construction and procurement, CH2M looks forward to delivering high-quality services for RailPros, SANBAG and the rail passengers of Southern California.”
