Based on the idea of convenient, flexible and easy-to-use bike hire, Bainton Bikes is offering a new bike scheme at GWR’s Moreton-in-Marsh station.

The new bike hire scheme has no docking stations and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and builds on schemes available in Oxford and Kingham.

“I am delighted to offer this new service to our passengers and to encourage cycling to and from the station”

“We, as a business and as individuals, have a responsibility to reduce the impact we have on our environment,” said Claire King, GWR Moreton-in-Marsh Station Manager. “Working with Bainton Bikes, I am delighted to offer this new service to our passengers and to encourage cycling to and from the station, before boarding one of our trains and on to some of the great destinations that we serve.”

The scheme works by booking a bike on the Bainton Bikes website and downloading the app from Bainton’s software partner, Donkey Republic, the app then lets customers find, unlock and relock the bike. Once customers have located their bike, they are free to ride. The scheme allows customers to hire the bike at any time of the day, use it as necessary, and return it when finished.

The bike hire company also offers a 24-hour helpline to tackle any problems and are on hand should the need arise.

“Today’s hirers want to be able to pick up and put down a bike at will without having to park it in a docking station. This is what our scheme will offer,” said Kevin Moreland, Director of Bainton Bikes. “Moreton-in-Marsh is one of the key entry points to the Cotswolds, having easily accessible bikes available when you arrive allows visitors to reach and explore more areas without the need for a car.”
