Don’t fly all the way to the USA to ride the Crescent. You will be disappointed. Instead, ride the California Zephyr from Chicago to Oakland, especially the segment from Denver to Salt Lake City. A ride in a dome car on the Canadian or the Altantic is really special (in Canada). Check schedules to make sure a dome car is running on your trip. A day trip on the Durango and Silverton is really spectacular and worth the effort to fly to this remote corner of Colorado.
