Rail passengers can get a unique glimpse inside the redeveloped Birmingham New Street station thanks to a new exhibition and 3D rollercoaster-style fly-through.

Passengers can see the station from a different point of view, donning 3D glasses to watch a 3D video on their smartphone at the exhibition inside the station.
The rollercoaster-style fly-through is complemented by a model of the new station and information about its new facilities, including the stunning atrium space and new concourse areas. It is an opportunity for passengers to get an understanding of the new layout and find out more before the station opens next month.
Pat Power, manager of Birmingham New Street station, said, “We want to help passengers get the best understanding of the station so they are able to adjust to the new layout as quickly as possible when it opens.”

Redeveloped Birmingham New Street station will be ‘very different’
Pat Power continued, “The new station will be very different with more entries and exits, new ways of getting to the platforms and of course the fantastic addition of Grand Central. The 3D experience is a fun way of seeing what the new station will look like and will help build expectation and excitement before the station opens.”
Birmingham New Street station will open on Sunday 20 September while Grand Central and the new John Lewis store open on Thursday 24 September.
It will be a busy time for Birmingham with the new shopping centre opening, Rugby World Cup matches at Villa Park and the fan zone at Millennium Point, the Birmingham Weekender and events at the Barclaycard Arena and NEC. As a result, passengers are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys and be prepared for a busy station and city centre.
The exhibition will be located opposite WHSmith inside the concourse and will be in place until 20 September.
