The first two new passenger diesel locomotives for Nigeria rolled out from the CRRC Dalian factory in China on the 05 January 2017.
The first two new passenger diesel locomotives for Nigeria rolled out from the CRRC Dalian factory in China on the 05 January 2017.
The type CDD3B1 passenger diesel locomotives were unveiled by CRRC at its manufacturing plant in the City of Dalian in China’s Liaodong Peninsula.
Nigeria’s passenger diesel locomotives built to cope with a range of climatic conditions
The locomotives will enter service on the railway line between the Nigerian capital Abuja and Kaduna in the north west of the country. The locomotives have a track gauge of 1,435 mm and can travel at maximum speeds of 150 km/h. Furthermore the vehicles have been designed to cope with a range of climatic conditions including rainstorms, high humidity, dry and dusty environments and high temperatures.
To date, CRRC’s Dalian factory has supplied a number of locomotives to Africa such as South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zambia, Congo, Angola and Ethiopia.
