Morgan Sindall plc’s ETI team, which provides specialist overhead line electrification construction, electrical isolation skills and plant to the rail and electricity sectors, has been awarded a new £2 million contract from Network Rail.

The project consists of the design, supply and build to reconfigure the electrical supply on Route 7 of the Great Eastern route between Hill House and Hythe in East Anglia.

Works will include laying new overhead line electrification foundations as well as installing high voltage, low voltage and telecoms cables before making final connections and undertaking testing and commissioning.

Andy Roach, electrical director for Morgan Sindall, says: “This contract builds on our previous successes in similar contracts with Network Rail. We look forward to continuing our excellent delivery performance and further strengthening our position as a key player in the overhead line electrification market.”

The project will start in April 2011 and is due to be completed by the end of the year.
