Bombardier Transportation has announced the expansion of its startup collaboration activities with the aim to develop new paths into ground-breaking mobility and connectivity solutions.

Under the company’s new digitalisation initiative ON:TRACK, Bombardier Transportation bundles a range of ambitious projects towards more new digital business models that will drive the ongoing mobility revolution.

Verner Baird, Chief Information Officer, Bombardier Transportation, said: “Digitalisation has been a key part of Bombardier’s DNA for years, it’s something we are incredibly passionate about. From more data-driven business and Industry 4.0, to connected mobility and mobile applications, the rail transportation business shows an incredibly high potential for young startup entrepreneurs to create solutions that increase efficiency, enable growth and add customer value. Together with the strongest partners around the globe, ON:TRACK is key to keeping our position as the world’s leading mobility solutions provider.”

In early 2017 Bombardier began entering into close partnerships with tech startups in the fields of industrial network security solutions, technical monitoring of rail infrastructure, big-data analysis or open-platform mobility applications in order to better integrate various passenger transport solutions. The next round of Bombardier’s Startup accelerator programme is set to begin in September 2017. Here Bombardier will focus on Industry 4.0 solutions to make development, production and in service of trains not only more efficient, but also faster and more sustainable.
