Stadler US Inc. won the 15-year service contract to maintain both FLIRT vehicles and the EMF from Dallas Area Rapid Transit.

Stadler US Inc. has won its first maintenance contract in the United States after being awarded a 15-year $112 million service contract from Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s (DART) Board of Directors. The contract is the last part of an overall package for Stadler to provide turnkey vehicles and maintenance services to DART.

CEO of Stadler US, Martin Ritter, said: “This is an important step for the future of Stadler in the US. Not only are we looking forward to continuing this partnership with DART, but we are also confident that we can provide cutting-edge technology, paired with excellent service to DART’s customers, together.”

Following the award of the original contract in June 2019 to build eight DMU FLIRT vehicles and design an Equipment Maintenance Facility facility, the new agreement will require Stadler to provide vehicle maintenance for the previously awarded FLIRT vehicles, as well as EMF maintenance services. In addition, the contract also outlines two options to modify the vehicles – this will include adding luggage racks, bicycle stands, and wheel skirts.

Jürg Gygax, Executive Vice President Division Service at Stadler, said: “Stadler is looking forward to this 15-year partnership with DART and will ensure the highest availability from day one. For the Stadler maintenance division, this is a very important milestone, to win this contract in the United States. We see this as an excellent base for future growth in the US.”
