Consortium awarded Barcelona Suburban Network signalling contract

An Alstom-Bombardier consortium has been chosen to supply ERTMS signalling systems and 20 years of maintenance services for the Barcelona Suburban Network…

In a contract worth €73 million, an Alstom-Bombardier consortium will supply ERTMS, the European Rail Traffic Management System, for the Barcelona Suburban Network. In addition, the consortium will also provide 20 years of maintenance for the 56km line linking L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and Mataró in the city of Barcelona, Spain.

Barcelona Suburban Network signalling contract worth €73 million

The contract, awarded by Spain’s Administrator of Railway Infrastructure (ADIF), will deliver the design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning of the signalling and communication systems. Alstom will implement its proven, radio-based Atlas 200 ERTMS Level 2 solution for the entire line. Bombardier is responsible for the electronic interlocking system with its BOMBARDIER EBI Lock 950 computer-based solution.

The €72.7 million ($81.9 million US) contract reports Alstom’s share valued at €38.5 million ($43.4 million US) while Bombardier’s share is €34.2 million ($38.5 million US) excluding VAT.
