NEWAG has secured its largest ever order which comes from PKP Cargo for the supply of 31 brand-new DRAGON 2 locomotives.

NEWAG

Seven of the DRAGON 2 electric locomotives will have an access module, with the other 24 vehicles to be dual-voltage and adapted for operating in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, where they will be approved.

The locomotives will be delivered between 2019 and 2022.

The E6ACTa DRAGON 2 is a six-axle locomotive, designed for heavy-freight operations and they use the latest, reliable technologies and provide a high level of comfort for the driver. The main advantage of the DRAGON 2 is its very high tractive force, which, combined with the large mass of the locomotive has an effective anti-slip system and all-wheel drive capability.

The locomotive is the first Europe 6-axle electric locomotive which is fully compliant with the Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI 2014) and is also equipped with ETCS Level 2. The locomotive is equipped with silicon carbide (SiC) converters, giving it trouble-free operation at high temperatures and reducing its noise level output.
